About the Firm
Catherine created CMD Law after representing Senior Living clients and realizing that there was a lack of legal resources to fully support Senior Living Owners & Operators. So, she created a law firm that does just that: comprehensive, industry-focused, proactive legal solutions through a scalable, predictable pricing model. There is no other law firm like us.

Catherine Murawski Deist, Founder
Catherine supports Owners and Operators of Senior Living communities across the Country by offering comprehensive legal services and strategic consulting in areas critical to operational success, including contract negotiations, real estate transactions, licensing, investigations, deficiency responses, litigation management, litigation and risk advisement, and legal/regulatory compliance.
With over 15 years of legal experience across federal, state, and administrative forums, Catherine provides clients with the foundational legal knowledge and practical guidance they need to operate with confidence in a highly regulated and rapidly changing industry. Her approach combines strategic foresight with her deep operational understanding of the unique challenges of multistate Senior Living operations.
Catherine’s vast litigation experience includes prosecution and defense matters in various federal military courts, high-profile federal white collar criminal defense and civil litigation matters, and state elder law and family law matters
This depth of experience informs Catherine’s ability to proactively guide clients on risk management across every facet of their business operations: from building sale or acquisition to admissions and residency agreements to vendor contracts and employment practices. She distills complex legal exposures into clear, actionable strategies, helping clients prevent problems before they arise – and responding confidently when they do.
Catherine began her legal career in the Air Force JAG Corps, where she served for five years as a federal prosecutor and government contracts counsel, including one deployment to Bagram, Afghanistan in 2012.
Catherine’s husband serves in the Air Force as a C-17 pilot, and they have two daughters.
